Why didn't my PDF get much smaller?
If it's mostly text and vector graphics there's little to compress. The big savings come from PDFs full of high-resolution photos or scanned pages.
Will the text still be selectable?
Yes. Compression targets embedded images, not the text layer, so search and copy still work.
