RATES, SOURCES & ASSUMPTIONS

Know what is behind the numbers.

Checked 27 October 2026. Planning estimates for adults with full-year tax residency, not tax advice or payroll withholding. Annual assessment is spread over your chosen periods.

  • Income tax uses legislated 2025–26 / 2026–27 scales, LITO and entered eligible offsets.
  • Medicare uses enacted 2025–26 low-income thresholds ($28,011 individual), carried forward until amended. Family calculations assume spouse taxable and adjusted income are equal.
  • HELP uses annual thresholds and reportable super, fringe benefit and investment-loss add-backs.
  • Super estimates assume uniform earnings. Excess-cap tax, fees and unentered offsets are excluded.
  • Family benefits and child care use current rates, separate from wages. Capital gains entered are tax-assessment income, not asset-sale proceeds.

Helpful answers

Frequently asked questions

Will this match my payslip?

The results spread an annual tax assessment estimate across pay periods. Employer PAYG withholding uses separate rounding and timing rules. Deductions, offsets and other income may be settled at tax time.

Which years are supported?

Full pay estimates support 2025–26 and 2026–27. The tax history panel compares resident scales from 2018–19 onward. Family benefits and childcare use separately labelled current 2026–27 rates.

Are my figures private?

Calculations run in your browser. Saving on this device is optional. Share links contain your inputs in the URL fragment, so only share them with people you want to see your figures.

Does salary sacrifice reduce HELP?

Reportable super and fringe benefits are added back to repayment income. Salary sacrifice does not automatically reduce your study-loan obligation.
